Brunswick Vinyl Care

Let's see what we can see ...Gentle wipe with microfibre* clothRemove surface dust, hair and smaller contaminantsIdentify obvious surface grime*Yep, microfibre increases static. Sit tight. We'll get to that.

Why vacuum clean a vinyl record?Manual brushing can clear the big stuff. But the brushes often push micro-dust deeper into the grooves or spreads it around.Brushes aren't very effective against smaller and stubborn dirt, such as finger oils, ambient pollution and nicotine residue, unless you use an abrasive alcohol-based cleaner*.* Don’t.We guess you want most crap gone from your records? It’s like your carpet. Vacuum first.Vacuum cleaning puts a record-friendly, grime-busting, non-abrasive and non-alcoholic liquid on your records. The powerful vacuum machine then, erm, sucks it off.Result of a vacuum cleanBy cleaning off microscopic grunge and grime at the top of the groove walls, surface noise - pops and clicks - is reduced. For older records especially, the result can be amazing. Process1. Manual application of specialist cleaning solution (Pro-Ject Wash-It 2)2. Professional vacuum clean of both sides, one at a time3. Safe even for shellac records (props to you 78 - and gasp 16 rpm - peeps!)EquipmentPro-Ject Audio Systems VC-S3Pro-Ject Wash It 2 liquid

How does Ultrasonic clean a vinyl record?Ultrasonic vinyl cleaning uses high-frequency sound waves and liquid cavitation to safely lift dirt, oils, and microscopic debris out of a record's deep grooves without physical scrubbing.Huh? Ok. Tiny tiny bubbles are fired at high speed straight into the filthy grooves of your record. This cleaning reaches microscopic grime at the very bottom and walls of the record groove that a vacuum cleaning pad or brush cannot physically touch or extract. This is like the steam clean you're forced to do when you move out of a Reservoir rental. Annoying. But ... geez, it works.EquipmentHumminGuru NOVA 40kHz Ultrasonic CleanerHumminGuru 'The Small Bottle' surficantDe-mineralised water

This is a bit of a cheat. People love Top 3s, Top 5s and Top 7s, but hate even numbers. So I needed 5 points to sell the benefits of the service. It's true your records will get the anti-static red carpet treatment. But this is because of the smarts of Step 3 and the equipment used in Step 5.Still. Anti-static.

After it's all done, and your record has been restored to about-as-good-as-it-could-ever-be-given-everything-its-been-through, the care continues!Your record will be returned snug in a frosted 40-micron HDPE inner sleeve. It'll have a curved bottom, as we all do. For the chemistry-curious, HDPE is high-density polyethylene. No scratches and none of that awful paper dust from paper sleeves.I won't throw out any paper or feature sleeves you have.
